LG RESIDENCE RENOVATION
A complete transformation of a seldom used ground floor from basement storage to master bedroom and living quarters, this renovation was realized with the principle of exposing the layers of history evident in the 1927 home. The contrast between old and new is proudly pronounced: Original red brick fireplaces are revealed, their chalk inscriptions from previous owners left behind; old fir beams find new life as stair treads, and vintage fir planks salvaged from the demolition become a crafted herringbone feature wall. The concrete floor is uncovered, contrasted by shiny new tiles. A spectacular cool blue wetroom and powder room adjoin a new master bedroom; the headboard is the vintage brick fireplace. Uncovering the hidden treasures in the everyday brings a sense of history and warmth to the family who grows here.</description>

MAKE: INCUBATOR KITCHEN
For small scale food processors who needs a commercial kitchen, MAKE is an incubator kitchen, offering affordable kitchen shop time, efficient production equipment, and easy-to-use help modules. MAKE brings together facility, expertise, and retail channels to nurture the next generation of food entrepreneurs. While the commercial kitchen is designed to strict CFIA standards, it is the small reception area and the corridor leading to it that defines the identity of the space. A wall of mason jars spells the kitchen’s name, illuminated from above by mason jar lights. The interior of the reception area is clad entirely in plywood, the counterpoint to the industrial nature of the kitchen. Mason jars line the walls, displaying the efforts of the kitchen and the vintage lockers speak to the past.

TWISTY FENCES
Two hundred feet of schedule 40 steel tube twists itself into a long, singular rail whose form provides structure. Hockey netting is hand-laced into the fence segments to provide a partition that both delineates and merges with its colourful craftiness.

BERYL'S KITCHEN
At a mere 93 square feet, this kitchen renovation presented the challenge of creating a modern kitchen within the fabric of a 1920s Tudor home. Meticulously detailed, the space is made to feel more spacious through a balance of storage and openness, the considered inclusion of both natural and artificial light and custom stainless steel detailing that perfectly integrates necessary function.
Winner Of The Western Living 2007 Kitchen Design Awards.
Marianne Amodio was the project architect for Beryl's Kitchen with Bricault Design

BLUE MOON
An expansion and façade renovation to a popular furniture store on Winnipeg’s most trendy street, this design is as much art installation as it is architecture. This project is highlighted by an enormous glowing fiberglass moon that from a distance, can be easily confused with the actual moon.
Marianne Amodio was the design assistant for The Blue Moon with David Penner Architect.

3333 MAIN STREET
In recent years the South Main Street area has seen a resurgence of popularity. There is a sense of a new identity being forged – the new Main Street. This identity is based on the creative energy that defines the area. It is spontaneous, hip, youthful and distinct. The project strives to provide an architecture that engenders these sensibilities on a prominent site. The building is considered to be the contemporary of an artistic creative community. Its strong horizontality and the playful use of colour, pattern and form speak to both the history of the sire and to its future the cool 50’s modern milk and cheese dairy becomes the hipness of today. The building encompassed the things that Vancouverites love about Main Street: it’s fun, colourful, playful, artful and not afraid to take a few quirky chances. Marianne Amodio was the project designer for 3333 Main Street with Dialog.

1/2 HOUSE
1/2 HOUSE, stretches north to south on a gently sloping river site in a prominent Winnipeg location. Its aggressively sloped shed roof defines a simple geometry and volume. Outdoor porches and an entry court are carved from the volume to reveal a subtractive formal gesture in contrast to its neighbours.
Marianne Amodio was the design architect for the 1/2 HOUSE with Syverson Monteyne Architecture.
